Dr. Jonathan Smith
Jonathan is passionate about helping individuals and organisations realise their full potential. He emphasises the importance of self-awareness, of thinking holistically and on collaboration in his work as a coach and leadership development facilitator. He has worked with the police in the UK for over 25 years, including as Leadership Development Manager and Director of Studies. Has worked as both a manager, coach, and management development trainer in a variety of public and private sector organisations. He trained initially as a mechanical engineer and held a number of engineering positions. Currently lectures on a variety of Leadership and Human Resource Management topics in the Business School at Exeter University and previously in the Business School at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. He researches and writes extensively on leadership, policing and the spiritual dimension to work, and gained his PhD at Hull University in 2005.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and Senior Fellow of the HE Academy. He is married with two children and enjoys being in the outdoors – cycling, walking and making things.
